Community First: Clearway Helps Deliver New EMS Facility in Grant County, West Virginia

First responders in Grant County, West Virginia, are better able to serve local residents thanks to a new emergency medical services (EMS) facility, built in partnership with Clearway. Previously, residents in the communities of Mount Storm, Bayard and Scherr had no nearby emergency services and faced long ambulance wait times.

Constructed in 2025, the facility opened in November and will enable faster, more reliable emergency care with 24/7 coverage. It includes a two-bay ambulance garage and living quarters for four first responders.

The Mount Storm Energy Center donated land to Grant County in 2024 after learning from residents and local leaders of the pressing need for a new EMS facility. The investment is part of Clearway’s $800 million Mount Storm Energy Center repowering, which will generate an estimated $60 million in new local property taxes, $19 million in state tax revenue, and increase annual community donations from $20,000 to $120,000 – delivering lasting public safety and economic benefits.
