Strengthening the grid, bringing local benefits
As one of Utah’s largest clean energy operators, Clearway is supporting critical infrastructure in the state to help balance the grid and stabilize power costs. Honeycomb builds on Clearway’s role as a long-term employer, taxpayer, and philanthropic partner in Beaver and Iron Counties. The Honeycomb Center:
- Will generate $60 million in property and sales taxes for schools and public services
- Created 150 jobs at peak construction, prioritizing local workforce opportunities
- Are sustaining more than a dozen full-time, family-supporting positions for local residents
- Support local landowners with long-term leases that help preserve their land and legacy
- Contribute $40,000 in Community Benefit Funds annually to local schools and non-profits

The Honeycomb Energy Center represents a major investment in Utah’s energy future—supporting local jobs, strengthening grid reliability, and advancing energy innovation. By pairing large-scale battery storage with nearby solar resources, we’re helping ensure dependable, affordable power for communities across the region. This project also highlights the critical role of energy storage in enabling renewable energy at scale, delivering reliable power when it’s needed most while supporting a more flexible and resilient grid.
Turning big dreams into tiny homes
To mark the commissioning of Honeycomb, Clearway made a $150,000 donation to Iron County Care & Share to support the launch of a Tiny Home Village, offering safe, stable housing for individuals transitioning out of homelessness. Clearway’s Utah staff have been proud supporters of the nonprofit since 2023.

Honeycomb Energy Center Phase 1
Honeycomb Energy Center Phase 1 includes four 80 MW battery storage facilities in Iron and Beaver Counties, delivering 1,280 megawatt-hours of dispatchable power reserves. Built adjacent to Clearway’s existing solar projects and contracted under 20-year agreements with PacifiCorp, this $600 million investment came online in 2026 and strengthens grid reliability for the region.
Utah Solar
Utah Solar is a 530 MW portfolio of seven solar sites across Iron and Beaver Counties, representing a $441 million investment in southern Utah’s clean energy economy. Operating since 2016, these solar projects power thousands of Utah homes and now serve as the foundation for the Honeycomb Energy Center’s adjacent battery storage.
Spanish Fork Wind
Spanish Fork Wind is a 19 MW wind farm in Utah County and Clearway’s first project in the state. Operating since 2008, it represents an $8.5 million investment and marks the start of Clearway’s two-decade operating history in Utah.
