Our Workforce

At Clearway, we recognize that our people are our most important resource. The transition to 100% clean energy will depend on our workforce feeling like they belong as well as increasing representation within our industry. In 2025, our Human Resources department led a wide variety of initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the country.

Our Workforce Goals & Performance

Opening Doors to Clean Energy Careers

At Clearway, we’re committed to creating meaningful employment opportunities in the communities that host our clean energy projects. Our community-rooted internship model provides entry-level pathways for individuals who may not otherwise have access to careers in the wind industry. In 2025, an intern at the Alta I wind farm started with no prior wind experience and progressed to a full-time role, becoming the third intern to make this transition.

Our site crews coordinate with our Human Resources department to create individualized internship opportunities. This flexible model allows us to respond directly to community interest while building a local talent pipeline. Interns are treated as “foot in the door” candidates and are given meaningful exposure to the industry, not temporary or symbolic roles.

Interns at wind energy sites like Alta I receive hands-on training in safety, tower rescue, and maintenance tasks while working alongside experienced technicians who provide one-on-one mentorship. Site leadership maintains regular check-ins to support learning and safety.

This approach allows both Clearway and participants to confirm that a potential full-time role is a good fit, while also improving retention, building skills, and investing in a reliable, locally based workforce. By investing in people from the ground up, we’re strengthening our workforce, supporting local employment, and building lasting career pathways within the clean energy industry.

Regional Manager

The internship program at Alta 1 creates a pathway for individuals who might not participate in the traditional hiring process. Interns benefit from one-on-one guidance from senior wind technicians, who mentor them in building the skills, safety knowledge, and confidence needed to progress to a full-time role if they want to go that direction.

Partnering to Power the Wind Workforce

Located in Norfolk, Nebraska, Northeast Community College offers students the opportunity to earn a diploma or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Wind Energy Technology, preparing them for careers as wind technicians.

Through a partnership with the college, Clearway’s Broken Bow Wind Farm and Laredo Ridge Wind Farm each host a student intern for six months every summer. These internships provide hands-on experience for students currently enrolled in the Wind Energy Technology AAS program.

The AAS program provides comprehensive technical training in wind energy. Graduates leave the program ready to pursue rewarding careers in the wind industry, equipped with the technical skills and practical experience sought by employers.

Evolve Mentorship Program

The Clearway mentorship program, “Evolve,” is an opportunity for every Clearway employee to learn, grow, and develop. Evolve pairs mentors and mentees for a nine-month partnership of mutual learning based on participants’ role and skill development objectives. In 2025, the program continued to expand with the participation of 41 mentors and 53 mentees.

Our mentorship program was redesigned in 2025 to foster professional growth through purposeful, competency-based mentor-mentee pairings. Mentors are matched with mentees based on demonstrated skills, experience, and strengths that align directly with the mentee’s development goals and learning needs. Rather than relying on tenure or role similarity alone, the program focuses on specific competencies—such as leadership development, problem solving, decision making, or professional development—ensuring that each mentee gains targeted guidance that is practical, relevant, and immediately applicable.

In 2025, 87% of mentees agreed that they grew personally and/or professionally as a result of participating in the program, and both mentors and mentees gave it high “net promoter scores” (NPS), indicating on a scale of 1-5 how likely they would be to recommend the program to others:

“I gained a trusted resource at the company. I was able to discuss topics regarding work with someone that was not directly on my team, receive feedback, opinions, and learn.”

“I appreciated my mentor’s candor and their ability to genuinely relate to the challenges and frustrations I encountered. Their willingness to acknowledge these realities made the guidance feel practical, grounded, and immediately applicable.”

“I gained a more realistic and confident perspective on setting expectations for myself and my career. The mentorship helped me reframe growth as a deliberate, cumulative process rather than a linear one, allowing me to approach professional development with greater clarity, patience, and intentionality.”
