Clearway funded Community Benefit Fund to distribute an additional $20,000 in local grants

Keyser, WV – The US Wind Force Foundation, Inc. (USWFF) today announced that it is accepting applications for grant funding from the Pinnacle Wind Farm’s Community Benefit Fund. Clearway Energy Group (“Clearway”), which owns and operates Pinnacle Wind Farm, will distribute $20,000 in grants to qualified nonprofits in the communities surrounding the 54-megawatt wind farm in Keyser, West Virginia.

The Clearway Community Benefit Fund was established in 2012 to provide locally controlled financial resources for worthy “bricks and mortar” community projects. Pinnacle Wind initially contributed $60,000 to the fund and has committed to donating $20,000 annually for the life of the project.

Clearway also operates the Black Rock wind farm in Grant and Mineral counties and launched an additional Community Benefit Fund for Black Rock in 2022. Together, the Pinnacle and Black Rock Community Benefit Funds have awarded more than $670,000 to worthy local projects.

Grant applications must be postmarked no later than Monday, October 13, 2025.

Jim Cookman, President of the US Wind Force Foundation and partner at Laurel Renewable Partners, Pinnacle Wind Farm’s prior developer, stated that the organization is honored to serve Mineral County and its residents, especially during times of need. He added that the foundation looks forward to reviewing the applications and appreciates the community’s support for Pinnacle and Clearway Energy’s continued support for the community.

The Allocation Committee, composed of Mineral County residents, will conduct a thorough review process. Cindy Pyles, Chair of the Allocation Committee, highlighted the local control over the funds.
