John Woody is the Vice President of Business Development at Clearway Energy Group (formerly NRG’s Renewables business unit) where he focuses on growing Clearway’s large-scale solar and wind portfolios through project and portfolio-level partnerships and acquisitions. Over the past three years John and his team have added over 1,000 MW of solar and wind projects to Clearway’s operational footprint and have worked to grow its development pipeline to over 9,000 MW.
Previously, John worked in the Investment Structuring group in Chevron’s Renewable Power Group, where he managed solar and geothermal tax equity investments and was heavily involved with the financial and contractual aspects of Chevron’s renewable energy investment efforts in the U.S. and abroad. He has also held various roles Fotowatio Renewable Ventures and Enfinity, where he focused on the development and financing of distributed generation and small utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects.
John is the author of Climate Change: What’s Your Business Strategy? (with Andrew Hoffman), holds a BS and MS from Stanford University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
